Most writers don't need someone to fix their grammar — they need someone to read carefully, ask the right questions, and help them see what their manuscript is actually trying to do. That is the heart of writing consulting at this studio.

Every project starts with a complete read of the manuscript or sample, followed by an editorial letter that names the strengths, the structural concerns, and the choices in front of you. From there we decide together what kind of editing the work actually needs — developmental, line, or a combination — and we build a timeline you can plan a life around.

What's included

• Full manuscript evaluation and editorial letter (8–14 pages, single-spaced)
• Developmental editing with in-line notes on structure, pacing, character, and argument
• Line editing focused on voice, clarity, rhythm, and prose-level decisions
• Two rounds of revision review on requested chapters or sections
• Two 60-minute editorial consultations by phone or video
• Email support and clarifying questions throughout the engagement

Who this is for

First-time and returning authors of literary and commercial fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, prescriptive nonfiction, and business books. Most clients have a complete draft (or a substantial partial) and are ready for serious, honest feedback before they query agents or move into production.

How pricing works

Every engagement is quoted as a flat fee based on word count, complexity, and timeline. You'll receive a written estimate before any agreement is signed, and the fee will not change unless the scope itself changes — in writing, with your approval. Most clients prefer a 50% deposit with the balance due at handoff; payment plans are available for larger book-length projects.
